Tummy Tuck

Tummy Tuck Surgery

Tummy tuck surgery, also known as abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to address stubborn fat deposits and excess skin of the midsection that can contribute to a lax, sagging appearance. Due to genetic predisposition, pregnancy, childbirth, weight loss, or the natural aging process, the muscles in the abdomen are often pushed apart and stretched out; this makes it exceptionally difficult for even the strictest diets and most rigorous exercise routines to re-tighten them. Tummy tuck surgery is an ideal solution to combat excess abdominal skin and fat for both men and women.

Cost Of Tummy Tuck & Financing

Dr. Christopher Killingsworth and his plastic surgery team specialize in several tummy tuck techniques to achieve natural-looking results. The cost of abdominoplasty surgery varies depending on the patient’s goals, the specific type of tummy tuck (mini, full, or circumferential), and how much skin needs to be removed, repaired, etc. After your consultation, we will give you a detailed cost of your tummy tuck procedure.

We believe that all patients should have access to top-tier cosmetic care in Atlanta. Financing can help make cosmetic surgery more accessible and affordable for patients who may not be able to pay for their procedure up front. A quick consultation with an advisor from our facility will help you determine how to financially plan for your plastic surgery! Astra Plastic Surgery accepts cash, personal check, credit card, CareCredit®, and Alphaeon® Credit financing.

Ideal Candidates For Tummy Tuck

During your initial consultation for tummy tuck surgery, our plastic surgery team will perform a thorough evaluation of your health and medical history before assessing the laxity of your skin and determining the extent of excess tissue and fat deposits around your midsection. The ideal candidate is not pregnant or nursing, does not smoke, and is in good overall health. For the best results, you should be within 15 pounds of your goal weight. If you plan on having more children, it may be best to wait to have your surgery. We will encourage you to be specific about the changes you want and will take the time to understand your procedure goals to determine if they are realistic.

What Are My Tummy Tuck Options?

The amount of skin, fat, skin laxity, and patient goals will help our board-certified plastic surgeons determine the best tummy tuck option for you. The ideal option for your tummy tuck surgery will be discussed in detail during your tummy tuck consultation. Tummy tuck surgery can help achieve firmer and more sculpted abdominal contours. Learn more about your tummy tuck options below:

  • Complete Tummy Tuck:

During a complete tummy tuck, an incision is made around the belly button, while another incision is made just above the pubis. Excess skin is removed and reshaped, while the underlying abdominal muscles are surgically tightened. Liposuction may also be performed to remove excess fat and sculpt a firmer-looking midsection.

  • Mini Tummy Tuck:

The mini tummy tuck is a less invasive procedure requiring an incision above the pubis. This technique is ideal for patients with minimal amounts of loose abdominal skin. The mini tummy tuck does not tighten underlying muscles like a traditional tummy tuck and does not require an incision around the navel.

  • Circumferential Tummy Tuck:

Skin and fat can be removed from the midsection and back during a circumferential tummy tuck. Abdominal muscles can be tightened, and excess skin can be reshaped for a firmer profile. A circumferential tummy tuck can accentuate lower body contours.

Tummy Tuck Procedure

In a traditional tummy tuck, a horizontal incision is made just above your pubic hairline; the length of the incision will be determined by the amount of excess fat and skin that you have. As we do in every surgery we perform, our plastic surgeons attempt to make the incision as discreet as possible so that any residual scarring can be easily camouflaged with clothing.

Excess skin and fat is removed from the lower abdomen, and the weakened underlying muscles are tightened, narrowing the waistline while firming the midsection. The remaining skin is pulled taut around the stomach, and the incision is then closed with sutures. Often performed in combination with liposuction, a tummy tuck can greatly reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen.
