Liposuction Surgeon Offering Fat Removal

Atlanta Plastic Surgery

Dr. Christopher Killingsworth is a double board-certified Atlanta plastic surgeon. Dr. Killingsworth, Dr. Farber, and their plastic surgery team are known as experts in liposuction and body sculpting. We use various liposuction techniques to give you an advantage over unwanted fat. Liposuction can remove stubborn fat and unsightly bulges to trim the body and accentuate your physique! Our Atlanta liposuction practice works to achieve a more contoured and sculpted body.

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that improves the contours and proportions of your figure. Many Atlanta liposuction patients choose to undergo this procedure to attain a more sculpted and tone body. This can be achieved by removing unwanted fat from specific areas of the body.

As we get older, our bodies lose the ability to eliminate fat. Diet and exercise alone may not be enough to give you back a toned and tight body, but liposuction can! The most requested areas treated with liposuction in Atlanta include the chin, neck, arms, stomach, and hips. The back, love handles, buttocks, and thighs are also common treatment areas. Liposuction can also be used as a male breast reduction technique. Liposuction surgery is not an alternative to weight loss. Liposuction can remove areas of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise.

Am I an Ideal candidate for Liposuction?

To be considered for liposuction, you should be close to your ideal weight. Our liposuction surgeons will first discuss your diet and exercise routines. If you are a liposuction candidate, we will examine your fatty deposits to determine the best approach.

Dr. Killingsworth, Dr. Farber, and their plastic surgery team will explain how liposuction can improve your natural contours. We will also discuss what you can expect after liposuction. While liposuction can remove the excess fat you currently have, the potential exists to have new fat develop around the treatment area. Consistent dieting and exercise will be recommended to help maintain your liposuction results.

What are my Liposuction options?

At Astra Plastic Surgery, It starts with trust

There are two primary types of liposuction: tumescent lipo and super-wet lipo. These techniques use different amounts of wetting solution to remove excess fat. Tumescent liposuction is distinguished from the super-wet approach by the amount of fluid injected. Additionally, our Atlanta plastic surgery office offers non-surgical liposuction using CoolSculpting®. Learn more about these liposuction procedures below:

Super-Wet Liposuction

The wetting solution is equal to the volume of fat removed. This technique requires intravenous (IV) sedation or general anesthesia.

Tumescent Liposuction

This wetting solution is two to three times the volume of fat removed. This solution causes fat deposits to swell (tumescent). Tumescent liposuction is the most commonly used technique and requires either local anesthesia sedation or general anesthesia.

CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting uses innovative cooling technology to target stubborn fat cells without the need for incisions or downtime. During this procedure, fat cells are targeted using cryolipolysis and naturally removed by your body.

Liposuction Procedure

Astra Plastic Surgery Procedures in Atlanta, GA

Your liposuction surgeon will inject the wetting solution into the treatment area(s). The solution consists of saltwater, a medication that helps decrease bleeding and bruising, and a local anesthetic.

This anesthetic is used to minimize discomfort both during and after surgery temporarily. After the fluid has been injected, your liposuction surgeon will make a small incision in the treatment area. A narrow tube that is attached to a vacuum pump will then be inserted through the incision. Your liposuction surgeon will remove the unwanted fat cells by moving the tube back and forth before closing the incision

Liposuction Recovery

Atlanta Comprehensive Procedures

Depending on a person’s healing rate, liposuction is typically an outpatient procedure. However, if you were given local anesthesia or IV sedation, you will need someone to drive you home. Most patients return to work after a few days and can resume normal activities within two weeks. The outcome will vary based on the area and volume of fat cells removed.

Liposuction Results

During your consultation for liposuction Atlanta body contouring experts at Astra Plastic Surgery will discuss your expected results and how to best maintain your new body contours. The fat cells extracted during liposuction are removed, but liposuction will not prevent you from gaining additional weight. To maintain your liposuction results, we encourage patients to follow a healthy diet and regular exercise routine.
